John Block

John Block is a bear clan member of the Seneca Nation. He resides on the Allegany reservation. John is an active member and speaker at the Coldspring longhouse. As a longtime singer and dancer, John Block has enjoyed sharing Hodinöhšö:ni:h music and dance his whole life. Prior to becoming a powwow emcee, John travelled to powwows with his family as food vendors. As an emcee for over 15 years, John brings a wealth of cultural knowledge that expands beyond Hodinöhšö:ni:h borders. In his youth, John was an accomplished Southern Straight dancer, having served as one of the head dancers at the Morongo Thunder and Lightning Powwow in California. Some of the notable powwows on his resume include Red Hawk Native American Arts Council Powwows, The Marvin Joe Curry Powwow and the Schemitzun Powwow.
